Ben Cornell – Baker City

“My wife and I moved to Baker in July 2020 because my wife was offered a job here in town. I continued to work remotely until a couple of months ago when I applied for and was offered a job at New Directions. I enjoy socializing in the work environment and dressing up. It was difficult trying to meet new people in a smaller town during COVID, so I didn’t want to work remotely anymore. Now, I’ve met many people through work and in a softball league this past season.

I would love to play in a soccer league or even coach. I grew up playing soccer and played forward (striker) at University of Idaho. I also do lots of fishing with people I have met here. Music is also a big part of my life. I play primarily coffee style music and have played here in town. I am even going on a two week tour in Spring 2022 in the Pacific Northwest playing with other musicians. I would like to be able to play in town more if given the opportunity, but I also have a baby that is on its way in November.

Yeah, growing up I didn’t think I would ever get married or have a kid, and I got both within a year! We have a great support system, and our two dogs, I think, will handle the baby well. My wife and I tested the waters with a new family member, and Titan didn’t care at all while Maya stayed close to the baby.”
